Even coming into the height of the fall season there are still events to be attended around town. Last weekend my family came into town for a visit and we went to Snowbird Ski Resort up Little Cottonwood Canyon (about an hour from here) to attend their Oktoberfest celebrations. It’s everything you expect to see in Oktoberfest. Beer, brats and oompah music. And of course the chicken dance. It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon, we rode the tram to the top of Snowbird to take in the view. The base of snowbird is 8,000 ft with the tram taking you up to 11,000 feet in 9 minutes. A beautiful ride up and the view from the top was quite impressive.
There’s more snow in the forecast for this week and another gorgeous week end on tap. With the cold weather the aspens are quickly turning–they’re bright gold–and I expect the height of the colors to be next week. This is a beautiful time to visit the Rockies with crisp days and beautiful colors.
